Be more conservative; be more liberal
Regardless of your political leanings, now is a time to mix your concerns. We must become more conservative with our perishables (from food to toilet paper) avoiding over consumption and waste. We need to be more liberal in our concerns for those keeping up our health needs, emergency services, food supply, and other essential services.
We must also keep our independent side aware of the fact we are responsible for our own actions and how they may affect others.
No combination equally fits everyone. Prior to COVID-19, many people were struggling day by day, paycheck to paycheck, hoping for relief. They are the group hurting the most. Many will not survive, many have not. Let this tragic time humble you in the future for your view of how fragile our lives are without help from many strangers.
To quote John Churton Collins: "In prosperity our friends know us; in adversity we know our friends."
