Endorsement: Adams for Democratic nomination for DuPage circuit court clerk.

The Democratic primary race for circuit court clerk in DuPage County features one candidate with an impressive record of community involvement and county party politics and one with an impressive grasp of the public service needs of this specific office.

We're siding with the latter.

Candice Adams, a Lisle attorney, does not have near the level of political experience of Moon Khan, an information technology specialist from Lombard who has a long record of service in community affairs and local politics. But she does have an acute awareness of the diverse needs of the attorneys, court personnel and general public who depend on the circuit court clerk.

Adams expresses a sincere interest in making systems and resources more accessible and navigable for anyone who comes in contact with the courts. She is not just committed to transparency in the office but also offers creative ideas for improving training, modernizing technology and monitoring best practices from court systems elsewhere.

Khan's community service background is impressive, and he is right that his IT background could be useful in upgrading court resources. But Adams demonstrates an insider's awareness of the needs and wants of the people who use the courts and the initiative to address them. She gets our endorsement.
