Hickman, Rock Bridge runners set to compete in Indiana

The Nike Cross Nationals Midwest Regional Championship takes place Sunday in Terre Haute, Indiana, and runners from the Hickman and Rock Bridge cross country teams will be participating.

The runners from these schools will compete in the Open Invitational and Freshman/Sophomore races against some of the top runners from Illinois, Michigan and Indiana.

The entire Hickman team and six Rock Bridge runners will be in attendance, led by Kewpies senior Chandler Gibbens and Bruins sophomore Matthew Hauser.

Tolton’s Bedsworth receives Class 2 honors

Tolton softball’s Paige Bedsworth was named to the Class 2 All-State Second Team on Saturday.

The Trailblazers’ sophomore pitcher finished the season with a 17-7 record and a 1.37 ERA. Bedsworth also struck out 274 batters while holding opposing offenses to a .165 batting average in the 147⅓ innings pitched.

Bedsworth’s win total, innings pitched and games started were all single-season records for Tolton. She also set the single-season home run record with eight.
