Interfaith meal set for Monday in Libertyville

The Islamic Foundation North will host its annual Muslim-Catholic meal at 6:45 p.m. Monday, at the mosque, 1751 O'Plaine Road, Libertyville.

The topic for discussion is "Obligations to Speak and Reflect the Truth in Society." Keynote speakers will be Melanie Barrett, chairwoman and assistant professor in the Department of Moral Theology at the University of St. Mary of the Lake, and Imam Kareem M. Irfan, chair of the CIOGC Interfaith Committee.

The program portion of the evening will conclude at sunset, followed by prayers and breaking of the fast (Iftar) dinner. During the Holy Month of Ramadan, Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset. Their evening meal traditionally begins with something to drink and a sweet, often dates.
