Chicago man shot to death in Elkhart apartment building

ELKHART, Ind. (AP) - Authorities have launched a murder investigation after a Chicago man was found shot to death in an apartment in the northern Indiana town of Elkhart over the weekend.

Elkhart police say they received a report of shots fired in the large housing complex about 2:30 a.m. Saturday and found a man who had been shot.

The Elkhart Truth reports (http://bit.ly/29G9hsn ) the victim was identified as 26-year-old Tristan Branch of Chicago and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities are trying to find out why Branch was at the building, which is operated by the Elkhart Housing Authority.

Police have not released information about a possible suspect or a motive for the shooting.
