Cyle Larin scores early; Orlando City beats NYCFC 1-0
NEW YORK (AP) - Cyle Larin scored an early goal and Orlando City held on to beat New York City FC 1-0 in Major League Soccer on Friday for their first win at Yankee Stadium.
Larin scored in the seventh minute for his third goal in as many games this season. Larin was last season's MLS rookie of the year, scoring a record 17 goals.
New York City FC had plenty of chances to get the equalizer, but David Villa's bicycle kick flew over the net in the 68th minute, Steven Mendoza's shot hit the right post in the 73rd, and Andrea Pirlo missed the top right corner from a direct free kick in stoppage time.
Goalkeeper Joe Bendik had six saves for Orlando City.
