Police: Chicago-area man called 911, said killed wife, son

GLENWOOD, Ill. (AP) - Police in the southern Chicago suburbs say a man called 911 to tell authorities he killed his wife and son.

Glenwood Police Chief Demitrous Cook says officers responded to the home and found the man in the garage suffering from what appeared to be self-inflicted cut wounds. The man wasn't immediately identified. Cook says he was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

Cook said officers found a man and woman dead on the home's second floor. The Cook County medical examiner identified the dead as 33-year-old Irven S. Williams and 68-year-old Delphenia Williams. Autopsies were scheduled for Friday.

Cook called it "a tragic incident" in "a quiet town." He said police don't know a motive or how the two were killed.

Illinois State Police and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force also were investigating.
