Connersville patrolman dies after ATV strikes tree

CONNERSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Indiana conservation officers say a veteran policeman died after his all-terrain vehicle struck a tree in eastern Indiana.
They say 47-year-old Jeffrey S. Counceller of Connersville was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident Thursday morning in southern Fayette County, about 50 miles east of Indianapolis.
The 17-year Connersville Police Department patrolman had last been seen about midnight leaving his brother's nearby home. A bystander reported the ATV crash to dispatchers about 6:40 a.m.
Officers say the investigation into the crash is continuing.
