Trinity Containers to close in western Illinois, layoff 72

QUINCY, Ill. (AP) - A propane storage tank company has announced it will close this spring in western Illinois and eliminate 72 jobs.

The Quincy Herald-Whig reported Monday (http://bit.ly/1L2CFIU ) that Trinity Containers LLC will start layoffs May 1 and be finished with them by June 1. The business' parent company, Trinity Industries of Dallas, says employees have received notice that the facility in Quincy is closing.

Trinity Industries vice president for public affairs Jack Todd says the closure is "primarily driven by the downturn in demand for products manufactured at this facility."

Trinity Containers specializes in above and below-ground propane storage tanks.

The company said it will work to help employees find other job opportunities.
