The temperament, skills, a judges needs
Although I no longer reside in the county, having spent 40 years in the McHenry County legal community provides an adequate basis for an opinion as to the upcoming election regarding Sub Circuit 3. Additionally, having held the position in Sub Circuit 1, I understand the qualities a person must possess to effectively carry out the duties of the office of circuit judge.
It requires an individual who has critical reasoning skills, decision making skills, appropriate temperament, humility, compassion and impartiality. Above all the position requires a judge who will treat all who enters the courtroom with dignity and respect they are entitled to, regardless of their background. Anyone without these qualities will damage the integrity of the judicial system.
Justin Hansen for 10 years prior to his appointment by the Illinois Supreme Court to the bench appeared in my courtroom two to three times per week both as a prosecutor and a defense attorney. He conducted numerous bench trials, jury trials and contested motions. These matters gave me numerous opportunities to gauge his abilities and skills. Without question, the only candidate who is in possession of all the required skills to carry out the duties of the office is Justin Hansen. I strongly endorse Judge Hansen in Sub Circuit 3.
