St. James to host Community Pet Blessing Oct. 29

In honor of Saint Francis, patron saint of pets, community pets are invited to bring their owners to a Community Pet Blessing and Costume Contest from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at St. James Episcopal Church, 516 Washington St. in West Dundee.

A brief prayer service and blessing of each pet will take place in the parish courtyard and driveway. Owners can also bring photos of their pets for a blessing as well.

In celebration of All Hallow's Eve, dress up your pets for a costume contest, with gift cards being awarded for first- and second-place winners.

Local pet vendors and shelters will be present for the fun and festivity for young and old.

A special raffle for a matching owner and pet blanket will be held during the event.

Raffle tickets are available at St. James now through Oct. 29. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.
