$437 million Lake County budget approved
The Lake County Board this past Tuesday approved a $437 million budget for 2018 that funds services such as transportation, health and courts.
Board members voted 14-7 for the spending plan, which is balanced and up less than 2 percent from last year. County officials said they have been able to hold the line because departments are making operational efficiencies, leveraging technology, and sharing services.
A potential cut of $1.6 million in state funds was noted, however some board members felt the tax levy should not have increased.
County services represent about 7 percent of a property tax bill.
