Two Person Art Exhibit at Des Plaines City Hall

Artists Rhonda Popko and Margaret Newman will be exhibiting their works of art in the Council Chambers of Des Plaines City Hall, 1420 Miner Street, during the month of April. Rhonda Popko is an artist and teacher. For over 30 years, she taught adults and children at the Science and Arts Academy and the Des Plaines Park District. Her mixed media artwork has evolved over the years, leading to an exploration of different media and materials applied to a mix of surfaces through paint, printmaking and textiles. Rhonda currently serves as president of the Des Plaines Art Guild (dpag.org).

Margaret Newman, who also has served as president of the DPAG, creates her works of art through the mediums of watercolor and acrylic. She originally started out working in clay, but due to life style changes, found another form of expression. She was fortunate to discover a painting class in Door County given by artist Jim Krauss of Oakton College about twenty years ago. Through the ensuing years Margaret has shown her work in juried art shows and art fairs, finding joy in being able to create and finding the recognition truly rewarding.

City Hall is open Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Anyone interested in joining the Des Plaines Art Guild can download a membership form at dpag.org.
