Village can give state lesson on budgeting

How refreshing to read the Dec. 16 Daily Herald story of how the Barrington citizenry and leadership have created a fine healthy budget actually utilizing spending controls without cutting village services. Very enlightening after reading in the same issue Gov. Pritzker's front-page scathing lecture to the Illinois taxpayers how evil we are to vote down our opportunity of giving the state politicians more of our money to waste (the so called Illinois "fair tax") which is forcing him to cut key Illinois services.

Wow, Governor, do you think we voters may not trust you and the other Illinois politicians with more authority to spend based on your promises? I would suggest the governor look at Barrington and other suburban leadership to see how it is done - spending within one's income levels (including reduced staffing) and actually maintaining sufficient services for its citizens.

If this complimentary and fact-filled article by Elena Ferrarin is accurate, and I have no reason to believe otherwise, cheers, Barrington. Hope our state leaders can learn.
