Fourth of July festivities in DuPage County

The following are Fourth of July happenings in DuPage County.

Concerts

• Southwest Community Concert Band gives an Independence Day performance at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, at the band shell at Cantigny Park, 1S151 Winfield Road, Wheaton. Lawn seating; chairs and blankets welcome. Free. Parking: $10.

• A Millennium Carillon Fourth of July Recital is performed from 8:45 to 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, at 443 Aurora Ave., Naperville. Free. Info: napervilleparks.org.

Festivals

• Fifty Golden Years Warrenville Celebration continues Tuesday, July 4, at Cerny Park, River Road at Forestview Drive, Warrenville. • Freedom Four 4-Mile Run is 8 to 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 4, at Lake Ellyn Park, 645 Lenox Road, Glen Ellyn. Register at freedomfourrun.com or from 6 to 7:30 a.m. race day at Lake Ellyn Park. Info: support@gepark.org.

• Bensenville Libertyfest and Fourth of July Parade take place from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, at Redmond Recreation Complex, 735 E. Jefferson, Bensenville. Day begins with a parade at 10 a.m. from Town Center to the Redmond Recreational Complex. Free public skate and swim from noon to 4 p.m. at 546 John St. Food, beer, games and activities at Redmond. Music starts at 4:30 p.m. with Five Guys Named Moe, followed by Infinity at 7:30 p.m. Fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Free. Info: bensenville.il.us.

• The 4 on the 4th Race starts at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, July 4, at Prospect Avenue, next to Wilder Park in Elmhurst. Four-mile run. One-kilometer race for ages 12 and younger. Cost: $10 to $35. Info: epd.org.

• Spend Fourth of July at the Pool from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, at the Family Aquatic Center, 120 E. Oak St., Addison. Pool party and barbecue. Water games and prizes. Info: addisonparks.org.

Parades

• Aurora Independence Day Parade steps off a 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 4, and proceeds east on Benton Street, north on Broadway, west on Galena Boulevard, south on Stolp Avenue, west on Downer Place and ends at River Street. The reviewing stand is in front of the Paramount Theatre, 23 E. Galena Blvd. The theme "Party on Aurora" celebrates the 25th anniversary of "Wayne's World." Free. Info: aurora-il.org.

• Lisle Fourth of July Parade steps off at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 4, in downtown Lisle and proceeds from Main Street to School Street, right on Spencer, left on Burlington. Free. Info: eyestotheskies.org.

• Carol Stream Fourth of July Parade starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 4, and proceeds along Lies Road between County Farm Road and Fountain Drive. Free. Info: carolstream.org.

• Glen Ellyn Fourth of July Parade and Afternoon Festivities take place from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 4. Parade starts at noon on Ellyn Avenue, goes west on Crescent Boulevard, north on Main Street, east on Linden Avenue to Lake Ellyn Park, 645 Lenox Road, where afternoon festivities are planned from 1 to 4 p.m. Includes moon walks, inflatable obstacle course, penny carnival games, live music, dancing and face painting. • Villa Park Fourth of July Parade steps off at noon Tuesday, July 4, in downtown Villa Park. Parade proceeds from Central to Harvard, south to Madison, east to Summit, north to Park, west to Ardmore. Free. Info: (630) 834-8191.

• Downers Grove Fourth of July Parade starts at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, at Main and Grant streets, downtown Downers Grove and proceeds south to Warren Avenue. Free. Info: events.downers.us.

• Wheaton's Fourth of July Parade steps off at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 4, on Main Street in downtown Wheaton. This year's parade theme is "There's No Place Like Home." St. Matthew United Church of Christ Shopping Cart Drill Team marches in the parade and collects monetary and food donations for the People's Resource Center and Interfaith Food Pantry. Free. • Bensenville Fourth of July Parade starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 4, from Town Center, 12 S, Center St., east on Green Street, south on York Road, east on Jefferson Street, finishing at Redmond Recreational Complex, 735 E. Jefferson, where festivities are held. Free. Info: bensenville.il.us.

Fireworks

• Aurora Independence Day fireworks are 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, at RiverEdge Park, 360 N. Broadway Ave., Aurora. Viewing also at McCullough Park, Illinois Avenue and Lake Street. At RiverEdge Park, American Legion Band performs from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m., Fox Valley Orchestra from 7:45 to 9:15 p.m., and food vendors. At McCullough Park, food vendors, inflatables and Aurora's own Pawnshop Horns playing blues, rock, soul, ska, R&B and country from 7 to 9:15 p.m. Free park-and-ride shuttle service from 6 and 9 p.m. and after fireworks, which start at 9:35 p.m. Free. • Fourth of July festivities and fireworks take place from 3 to 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, at Hamilton Lakes, Thorndale Avenue and Route 53, Itasca. Live music begins at 7 p.m. with Pat McKillen and continues at 8 p.m. with Maggie Speaks. The fireworks begin between 9:45 and 10 p.m., and last approximately 25 minutes. Beer tent and food for sale. • Carol Stream July Fourth Concert and Fireworks starting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, at Carol Stream Town Center, 960 N. Gary Ave., Carol Stream. Billy Croft and Five Alarm plays a concert at 7 p.m. Concessions after 6 p.m. Fireworks at dusk. Free. Info: (630) 665-7050.
