What you need to know on Election Day
It's finally our turn, Illinois.
Democrats and Republicans here will choose their favored candidates for president today, as will voters in several other big states that could make this election all but decisive for the eventual nominees.
Here's what you need to know to vote.
• Polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.
• In a primary, voters are asked to pick a Republican or Democratic ballot. Which you select is public record.
• Voters will choose a presidential nominee and the general-election candidates for U.S. Senate, Congress, the state legislature and county offices, among others. Voters also will pick delegates to go to each party's summer nominating convention.
• You can learn more about the candidates, their positions and backgrounds at dailyherald.com/election.
