Man crashes '66 Mustang at vintage car show in La Porte

LA PORTE, Ind. (AP) - Authorities say a 72-year-old man was seriously injured when his vehicle crashed into a tree at a vintage car show in northern Indiana.

The LaPorte County Sheriff's Office says the crash happened at about 4 p.m. Saturday at the start of La Porte's annual Cruise Night at the LaPorte County Fairgrounds.

The sheriff's office says the driver, from Hudson Lake, was behind the wheel of his white 1966 Ford Mustang in the fairgrounds' parking lot when his foot became entangled between the brake and gas pedal. The sheriff's office says the vehicle crashed through a fence and became airborne before it slammed into a tree and caught fire.

Sheriff Capt. Mike Kellems tells The (Munster) Times (http://bit.ly/21h4xvH ) that the driver was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
