St. Charles passes its yearly financial audit

Results from the City of St. Charles' Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ending April 30, 2018, were presented at the Oct. 22 government services committee meeting.

City Finance Director Chris Minick and Sikich LLP Partner Fred Lantz, from the city's independent auditing firm, presented the audit report results.

Once again, the city passed its FY 2017-18 financial audit with flying colors, receiving an "unmodified opinion" on its financial statements, the best audit opinion an entity can receive.

"The City of St. Charles is committed to following fiscally prudent policies and maintaining transparency and accountability," said Finance Director Christopher Minick. "Our financial documents are always available online for anyone to access."

In addition, the city will submit its FY 2017-18 CAFR for the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association.

The award is the highest form of recognition in government accounting and finance.

It recognizes the City of St. Charles for showing a spirit of full disclosure in clearly communicating the city's finances.
