Halloween 'Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over' and 'Click It or Ticket' campaigns get results
The St. Charles Police Department completed the Halloween Mobilization campaign associated with the Illinois Department of Transportation's Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program.
Law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois participated in this effort to save lives by getting impaired drivers off the roads and more people buckled up.
The enforcement crackdown took place from Friday, Oct. 26, through the early morning hours of Thursday, Nov. 1.
Officers assigned to this detail made:
• No arrests;
• Apprehended one fugitive;
• Issued one suspended/revoked license citation;
• Issued seven speeding citations;
• Issued two citations for other violations.
The goal of this program is to reduce the frequency and severity of injury related crashes.
The extra patrol assignments for DUI and seat belt enforcement are made possible by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation and is part of the statewide "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket It" campaigns.
St. Charles officers also worked to slow traffic in the downtown area throughout the Halloween weekend. In the downtown area, six traffic stops were made resulting in the following arrests or citations:
• One possession of cannabis;
• One possession of drug paraphernalia;
• One speeding;
• Four electronic communication device (cellphone) while driving;
• One disobeyed traffic control signal;
• Three no valid driver's license;
• One no valid registrations.
Efforts with this enforcement will continue throughout the fall season.
