Sample the fun at Batavia Block Party
The Downtown Batavia Block Party - Taste of Batavia has quickly become one of the best ways to say goodbye to summer and celebrate the start of the fall season with all of your neighbors.
This year's event is from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4. Seven downtown restaurants will provide $3 menu items as well as cold beer, refreshing soda and even Windmill Ginger Brew. Kids can enjoy free fun over in the River City Church kids area packed with bounce houses, jousting arena, face painting, snow cones, raffles and more.
The Pie Bake Off and the Pie in Your Face fundraiser will both be hosted at the Peg Bond Center as well. Register to bake the best pie in town and make sure to bring $2 to throw a whipped cream pie in the face of competing Batavia Elementary School PTO volunteers and staff. All funds raised during the pie in your face go back 100 percent to the PTOs.
On River Street, all will enjoy the Classic Car Cruise-In where you will have a chance to view and vote for your favorites.
The evening wouldn't be complete with some music from local bands like Patrick James and River City Revival opening up for the one and only Dick Diamond and the Dusters.
There will be dance performances, hoola-hooping, games, a flash mob and more.
All of this is not possible without some very important help from volunteers. Sign up for a two-hour slot or more to help as a car show attendant, wrist-banding, ticket sales, set up or one of many other options.
Each volunteer will receive a cool, tie-dye downtownbatavia volunteer T-shirt.
