St. Patrick's traffic enforcement
The Lake County sheriff's office will begin special traffic enforcement patrols Tuesday in advance of St. Patrick's Day weekend. Sheriff's officials said the additional traffic safety details are intended to crack down on intoxicated drivers. The extra patrols are scheduled to run through Sunday, March 20. The St. Patrick's Day "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" initiative is paid for with federal funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and administered through Illinois Department of Transportation.
