Bartlett trustees to discuss BAPS mandir expansion Tuesday

Bartlett village trustees Tuesday will discuss plans for a new family activity center for the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir just off Route 59.

The 100,000-square-foot center would include an indoor gym, a track and basketball court, classrooms, a lounge, offices and a kitchen, among other amenities.

The mandir will be required to add 96 additional parking spaces before the activity center opens.

The new facility will better accommodate the number of people who already attend the mandir, and is not likely to generate much new traffic, according a traffic study conducted by Gewalt Hamilton Associates.
