Elgin Vineyard to host 'Trunk-or-Treat' Oct. 27

On Saturday, Oct. 27, kids are invited to dress up in costume and come to "Trunk-or-Treat" at Vineyard Church of Elgin, 220 Division St.

Carnival games will be set up in the parking lot, and there will be candy prizes in abundance. The event runs from 3:30 to 5 p.m. It will be moved inside to the Community Room in case of rain. "Trunk-or-Treat" is free and open to the community.

Sunday services at Elgin Vineyard are 9 and 11 a.m. Come early to grab a free coffee from the wide selection in the Community Room at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.

During November, Vineyard is offering a four-week adult Sunday school class, "Silencing Shame and Living the Truth," from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Learn how shame distorts perspective and confuses people into believing Satan's lies about themselves and God. Learn how to silence that shame through the power of the Holy Spirit and thrive on God's love in the midst of life's challenges.

"Silencing Shame and Living the Truth" will be taught by Dennis Humphrey, a local mental health counselor and adjunct faculty member at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Class meets every Sunday in November. Register online at www.elginvineyard.com.
