Recount shows Gorman wins Indiana Senate primary recount

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A recount shows Indiana's closest legislative primary race was won by the candidate with the lead on election night.

WIBC-FM reports (http://bit.ly/293hXq6 ) a recount team added and subtracted some votes but the final margin remained the same with a 37-vote victory by attorney Sean Gorman over Hoosier Environmental Council Executive Director Jesse Kharbanda (KAR'-bahn-duh) in Senate District 36.

Gorman will face Indianapolis City-County Councilor Jack Sandlin for the seat being vacated by Greenwood Republican Brent Waltz.

Gorman says he's relieved to have the result finalized. He says the lingering uncertainty has made it harder to get the fall campaign up and rolling.

Waltz won re-election four years ago by six percentage points.
