St. Viator earns regional final berth

St. Viator's boys basketball team, the No. 3 seed in the Class 3A Antioch sectional, will play for a regional title Friday.

The Lions had no trouble with their first-round postseason opponent on Tuesday, as St. Viator earned a 70-42 victory over Vernon Hills in regional semifinal play at Chicago Payton.

Next up for St. Viator is a 7 p.m. Friday matchup against Rickover Naval Academy, which advanced by beating Payton on Tuesday.

The Payton regional champ advances to a 7 p.m. Wednesday slot in the Antioch sectional semifinals.

at Lake Zurich

Grant 60, Cary-Grove 45: At Lake Zurich, the fifth-seeded Bulldogs earned their 20th win of the season in the Class 4A regional semifinal.

Grant (20-8) will play No. 4 Lake Zurich in Friday's 7 p.m. final.

at Libertyville

Notre Dame 62, Glenbrook North 56: At Libertyville, the second-seeded Dons survived a scare in the Class 4A semifinal against the No. 18 seed.

Malik Jenkins and Matt Stritzel each scored 13 points for Notre Dame, which advances to Friday's 7 p.m. final against No. 7 Niles North.
