Finley makes Olympic discus finals
LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - Former Wyoming thrower Mason Finley has qualified for the final round of the men's discus throw at the Olympic Games in Rio.
Finley throw of 208 feet, 11 inches on his final attempt was the sixth-best mark in the qualifying round. He is one of 12 throwers to advance to Saturday's finals.
However, his best throw Friday is still 10 feet short of his personal best, which occurred at June's U.S. Olympic Trials.
Wyoming freshman swimmer Talita Te Flan competed in the 800 meter freestyle preliminaries on Thursday, finishing at 9:07.21, sixth in her heat.
She did not advance to the final. She swam for the Ivory Coast.
