Crews working to repair gas line break in Elk Grove Village

Crews continued repairs Wednesday following a gas line break at a major intersection in Elk Grove Village.

The break occurred Tuesday afternoon near the intersection of Oakton Street, Higgins Road and Busse Road, prompting the closure of one lane of westbound Oakton and one lane of northwest bound Higgins, according to police.

Repairs lasted several hours with the street closures in place on Tuesday, and continued Wednesday morning.

Officials advised drivers to avoid the area if possible.
