Naperville VFW hosts Turkey Raffle fundraiser

The Naperville VFW Post is putting a bit of luck into shopping for Thanksgiving dinner while working to help fellow veterans.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Judd Kendall Post 3873 in Naperville will have its annual Turkey Raffle in an event starting at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19. The evening includes raffles of turkeys, prime rib and gift baskets, just in time for Thanksgiving. Food and drinks will be for sale.

The Turkey Raffle is an important fundraiser for the local VFW. Funds are used throughout the year for operating expenses, allowing the post to provide ongoing support for veterans causes including visits to the Hines VA hospital, homeless veterans issues, and monetary awards to winners in the Patriot's Pen junior high school patriotic-themed essay contest.

"Our annual turkey raffle fundraiser is always one of the largest events at the post, and importantly raises much-needed funds to serve our veterans throughout the year," post Commander Tom Parker said.
