TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) - The Latest on a western Indiana shooting suspect involved in a standoff slipping away and going shopping (all times local):

5:20 p.m.

Authorities say a western Indiana shooting suspect involved in a two-day standoff slipped away from a home undetected and went shopping before a tactical team fatally shot him.

Terre Haute Police Chief John Plasse said Tuesday that 36-year-old Michael R. Reynolds went to a Terre Haute Walmart about 3:30 a.m. on March 6 and bought a cellphone and other items but no ammunition.

Plasse says a neighbor to the home saw Reynolds go through the neighbor's yard about 12:30 a.m. that day, or eight hours after the standoff began, but didn't tell authorities until after a state police tactical team fatally shot him at a second home about three blocks away.

Reynolds, suspected of killing an ex-girlfriend and wounding a man, was shot after making threatening gestures toward officers.

State Police say a western Indiana shooting suspect involved in a two-day standoff slipped away from a home undetected and went shopping before a tactical team caught up with him and fatally shot him.

Sgt. Joe Watts says video from a Terre Haute Walmart shows 36-year-old Michael R. Reynolds there about 3:30 a.m. on March 6.

Watts told the Tribune-Star that investigators believe they know what Reynolds purchased but they're not disclosing it.

After learning Reynolds was at a second home about three blocks from the first, a state police tactical team fatally shot him about midday March 6 when he stepped outside and made threatening gestures toward officers. The standoff had begun about 20 hours earlier.

Reynolds was suspected of killing an ex-girlfriend and wounding a man.
