Education board picks new leader for Bismarck State College

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - The State Board of Higher Education has hired a new leader for Bismarck State College.

The board selected Douglas Jensen to succeed President Larry Skogen who is retiring at the end of June.

Jensen comes from Rock Valley College in Illinois and was the only finalist who was a sitting president at another college.

The Bismarck Tribune reports Jensen has more than 30 years of leadership experience in a community college setting.

The board unanimously chose Jensen Thursday after interviewing each of three finalists by video conferencing because of the coronavirus.

Jensen will be paid nearly $227,000 a year under a three-year contract.
