Tollway Authority still a disgrace

What's it going to take to finally clean up the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority? Thank you, Marni Pyke and the Daily Herald, for keeping tabs on this corrupt institution.

Sadly, someone has to because it just can't climb out of the muck by itself. It seemed like you've been the only ones monitoring the deteriorating conditions until the Illinois State Senate recently got involved after receiving letters from the Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus and the House Black Caucus, regarding governance malpractice and inappropriate firings. Even though Ms. Pyke kept reporting on the latest problems, it still took a ridiculous amount of time to make changes.

I had hoped that we had finally moved beyond the past tollway messes when Gov. Pritzker came to office, but he appointed a controversial chair who made questionable actions from the start. Then he thanks the outgoing chair for "historic progress and leaves a stronger, more accessible and more equitable tollway system." Is the governor really that out of touch with reality?

Let's hope the new chair will make a difference, but it's hard to have faith in this institution or administration.
