Track repairs to close portion of Touhy in Des Plaines

Union Pacific Railroad track repairs will close Touhy Avenue immediately west of Mount Prospect Road in Des Plaines starting Monday, officials said.

A detour will direct eastbound Touhy traffic north on Elmhurst Road, east on Oakton Street and south on Mount Prospect Road to reconnect with Touhy. Westbound traffic will take the reverse route. Touhy will remain open to local traffic from the west between Elmhurst Road and the tracks, Des Plaines officials said.

The closure is expected to last no later than Sept. 22.
