As with any community there will be some diversity of views, opinions, expectations, or long term visions. It is most important to listen to the residents, understanding their needs, and visions for Campton. Overwhelming, the community has made it abundantly clear that the uncongested lifestyle of the rural and semi-rural is paramount.What is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales and property taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.Campton Hills does not have a municipal property tax. At incorporation, the commitment was made to operate a lean and efficient municipal operation without the creation of a municipal property tax. I am committed to maintaining that principle. Our sales tax revenue is somewhat limited to the economic community around Wasco.Rate the efficiency of your town's police and fire coverage. Are the departments well prepared for the next decade? What, if anything, should be changed? Do you have specific public safety concerns?The Campton Hills Police Department has provided outstanding service. Many do not know that Campton Hills has been recently identified as the 10th safest municipality in the country. It's hard to top that! Campton Hills does not have its own Fire District. The Village does not budget or collect taxes for fire and EMS services. Instead we are served by 5 different fire districts. Each of those Districts operates under its own respective budgets.I do not see any specific safety issues for the foreseeable future.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?The current Board reviews the Budget and expenditures closely each month. In establishing the Annual Budget, multiple review processes are employed to trim all unnecessary expenses. The Village department heads and staff take a close look at each pending expenditure carefully. Gently used items are sometimes purchased when they will serve the same purpose as new.What is one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?Inviting and engaging our Village Committees at semi-annual Board meetings. The target is open up the dialog, ensuring that each committee volunteer has the tools and support that they need while working to our collective missions while respecting their independence to function.What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?Building upon the incredible volunteer talent and spirit of our community. Getting the work done"circ;brvbar;and having fun.Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Nearly any who build their terms on dedication to an honest principle of public service.What is the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Hard work and honesty were drilled into us as children. That was expected. Anything else was not tolerated. Giving back"circ;brvbar;volunteering was another.If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?None. Often the failures are our best educators. Build on those.What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Philosophy would stand out. It is important to look at issues beyond the superficial. Ask questions"circ;brvbar;look at problems from multiple sides, viewpoints, and other's perspective.If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Rarely,is anything worthwhile easily achieved.
