Letter: New blood needed to lead Elk Grove Village

I completely agree with Ms. Kehoe's recent letter on Elk Grove Village. Unfortunately, whenever Mr. Johnson runs for office he is unopposed.

Currently he is shoving a 250-unit apartment building down our throats. He has not considered the homeowners living around Arlington Heights Road and Higgins nor has he considered that apartment building will bring down the value of our homes that we have tried so hard to update. Plus, where are these tenants going to park but on our streets since that parking lot is not large enough to contain around 250 vehicles?

It would be a good idea to tear down the bowling alley and replace it with a grocery store. Therefore, all the tenants that are currently doing business at that location would not have to leave and we can continue to support these good tenants.

As far as the dangerous brick crosswalks, that is a major problem in the winter. The ice breaks the material holding the bricks, Surely, Mr. Johnson did not think of that. The bicycle races: some residents could not get out of their houses because the roads were blocked and if an ambulance was called, well, there was no thought about someone getting sick or hurt.

We really need someone to run against Mr. Johnson and new blood with ideas on the village board not "yes men."
