Who's Who in Health Care: Bruce C. Christian: CEO, AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center GlenOaks
Bruce C. Christian has served as AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center GlenOaks' chief executive officer since 2011. He is a highly experienced health care executive with a proven track record of developing key business partnerships, physician relationships and strong internal teams that promote positive patient outcomes.
Through his tenacity, guidance and oversight, AMITA Health GlenOaks has undergone an unprecedented facility transformation, significantly renovating its patient-facing areas and transitioning to all private patient rooms on its Medical/Surgical units.
Under Christian's leadership, the 143-bed medical center earned the Top Hospital Award from The Leapfrog Group, one of the most prestigious distinctions any hospital can receive in the United States. It also was among the top 62 urban hospitals in 2015.
The medical center offers many notable services including acute and chronic inpatient behavioral medicine services for adults and seniors. The AMITA Health Therapeutic Day School serves up to 220 students in grades 3-12 in three locations, and a transition program is offered for young adults ages 18-21.
Prior to taking the helm at Adventist GlenOaks Hospital, Christian was most recently president and CEO of Loma Linda University Medical Center-Murrieta. There, he built a new, 108-bed facility in 27 months with a 160,000 square foot Medical Office building.
Additionally, he has nearly four decades of health care management experience, with especial talent for directing, building, renovating and leading a variety of health care facilities. He earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in business administration from Western Advance Central University.
