Hoffman Estates hosting summit April 9 on housing for developmentally disabled

The Northwest Suburban Special Education Organization (NSSEO) and Hoffman Estates Commission for Disabled Citizens are hosting a Connect to Community Transition Summit next month to address topics related to traditional and creative housing for young adults with developmental disabilities.

The event for families, service providers, and community members will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at Hoffman Estates Village Hall, 1900 Hassell Road.

Planned activities include area parents sharing stories of creating person-centered housing initiatives for their family members, The Center for Independent Futures describing their process for assisting families in developing supported living options, and a discussion by CSH of an advocacy strategy to help families work together to create housing solutions.

Participants can find additional details and register before April 4 at ctc2016summit.eventbrite.com. Questions may be emailed to connecttocommunityinc@gmail.com.
