Arlington Heights pays $35,000 to settle crash suit
Arlington Heights will pay $35,000 to a driver whose vehicle was rear-ended by a police department official in his village-provided take-home vehicle.
The settlement, approved by the village board this week, resolves a personal injury lawsuit filed by Lora Officer against the village and Deputy Police Chief Miguel Hernandez in September.
Hernandez was on his way home in November 2015 when his car rear-ended Officer's vehicle, forcing it into a vehicle in front of her. Officer suffered injuries from the crash, village officials said.
The settlement was approved as part of the board's Nov. 21 consent agenda, though trustees initially authorized the payment amount during a Nov. 7 closed session meeting.
