Softball: Lauret, Libertyville lower the boom
Jessie Lauret belted a grand slam, doubled, singled and drove in 6 runs, and Libertyville's softball team blanked Warren 12-0 in North Suburban Lake Division action Tuesday.
Hannah Heraty threw a five-inning three-hitter, striking out three and not walking a batter in improving to 8-1.
"Hannah did a great job of keeping the ball low and changing speeds to keep very good bats off-balance," said Libertyville coach Elissa Wisniewski, whose team improved to 8-1 and 3-0 in the NSC Lake.
Lauret finished 3-for-3 and also sparkled at shortstop.
"Jessie had a great day both offensively and defensively," Wisniewski said. "She did exactly what we want our seniors to do. She set the tone early offensively and then stepped up huge multiple times on defense to stop rally innings from starting, including doubling off a runner at first base from shallow left field after catching a ball that tipped off (third baseman) Jamie Stevens' glove."
Lyndsey Lyon also went 3-for-3 for Libertyville and had 3 RBI. Emily Hilldale was 1-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI.
