Indiana officers rescue boy's police-themed birthday party

PRINCE'S LAKES, Ind. (AP) - A central Indiana boy got a birthday bash he'll probably never forget thanks to officers who rescued his police-themed birthday party.

Westyn Ziegler's mother invited 25 kids to her son's seventh birthday party, which the youngster wanted to have a police theme because he loves police, police cars and sirens.

Kelly Ziegler tells WXIN-TV (http://fxn.ws/2dYUcGQ ) she was worried when none of the invitees said they'd be coming.

But that's when Officer Jeremy Elliott with the Prince's Lakes Police Department took over.

He picked Westyn up Sunday in his patrol car, let him turn on its siren and took him to the town hall about 25 miles south of Indianapolis.

Officers he'd invited were waiting there. They made Westyn an honorary officer and treated him to pizza, ice cream, cake and presents.
