Elgin's First Congregational Church to offer sermon of reflection Palm Sunday
On April 14, First Congregational Church of Elgin will celebrate Palm Sunday at its services with a reflection by Rev. Michael H. Montgomery, Ph.D. on the central question as to why the death of Jesus made any difference at all.
Was Jesus' entry into Jerusalem part of a divine plan involving his intentionally sacrificial death? An attempted political coup d'état that went wrong? In recent years, the traditional answers have been rethought.
Worship services begin at 8:15 and 10:15 a.m. It includes the traditional processional of children and choir with palms.
