Home detention for Guatemalan judge charged in FIFA probe
NEW YORK (AP) - A Guatemalan judge indicted as part of a probe of global soccer corruption will be under house detention and wear an electronic monitor as part of his bail agreement.
A federal magistrate in New York City Thursday set bond for Hector Trujillo at $4 million (euro 3.66 million). Trujillo's attorney said friends and relatives would be putting up cash and real estate properties as security for the bond.
Trujillo was general secretary of Guatemala's soccer federation at the time of his arrest last month. U.S. authorities took him into custody on a cruise ship docked in Florida waters.
He faces charges including racketeering, wire fraud and money laundering. He was among 16 men charged in an indictment that's part of a broad investigation into soccer's governing body.
