Letter: Focus on greater needs

So in light of Roe v. Wade being overturned, which was long overdue, now you have liberals, pro-choice groups, Democratic politicians including Chicago Mayor Lightfoot and Gov.Pritzker complaining.

Pritzker is telling women from other states that they can come to Illinois for abortions, and Lightfoot has now fronted $500,000 of taxpayers' money to help women who come to Chicago to pay for abortions and other expenses.

Really?

With the continued violence, shootings and killings in Chicago, Lightfoot is foolish using $500,000 to pay for abortion. Why isn't she using the money to hire a few more police officers, gun violence programs or other programs to curtail the violence in Chicago?

No, she would rather spend the taxpayers' money to pay for abortions.

So, let's worry more about the violence, shootings/killings and other problems in Chicago than spending money on abortions.

Maybe a similar bill like the Hyde Act should be passed in Illinois, but good luck with that with Pritzker as governor.

People of Chicago, wake up and demand that Lightfoot not to use your tax dollars to pay for abortions. It's bad enough that Illinois is the abortion capital of the Midwest.
