Letter: Biden's ad-libs get us all in trouble
President Biden is a perpetual gaffe machine. You can be certain he has been taken aside multiple times by both his aides and his wife counseling him, in no uncertain terms, not to ad-lib and cautioning him about putting his foot in his mouth.
But it is blatantly obvious that Biden has a serious incurable case of foot-in-mouth disease.
What other conclusion can one come to? Let me count the ways:
• The Commander-in-Chief asserted that NATO would be conflicted on what to do if Ukraine's sovereignty was subjected to a "minor incursion." Does this line of thought apply to NATO as well? We don't know with Biden at the helm.
• With regard to chemical weapons Biden said Russia's use of such WMD would "trigger a response in kind." Really? Clean up on Aisle 46 should not be a perpetual policy of the most powerful nation on this earth.
• Then we have Biden speaking to the soldiers of our 82nd Airborne in Poland saying when "you are over there," presumably in Ukraine, you'll see some bad things, contradicting his previous stance on placement of U.S. troops in the immediate theater of war. Yes, words matter.
It gets even worse when he lashes out at a reporter not on his approved list saying "sanctions do not deter." His response was in contradiction of repeated statements by the likes of his press secretary, Secretary of State and National Security Adviser that "sanctions do deter" prior to the invasion.
• Finally, Biden asserts "For God's sake, this man cannot remain in power" again in contradiction of stated U.S. policy. If that is not advocacy for regime change, I do not know what is. You can be certain that perked up the ears of the murderous butcher that Putin is.
Yes, words matter, and loose lips can sink the ship of state.
