Elgin police social worker honored for service
Elected officials, co-workers and friends gathered Tuesday to celebrate Elgin police social worker JoAnn Stingley for her 24 years of service.
Stingley coordinates the police department's social services unit, also known as the victims assistance unit. Police Chief Jeff Swoboda and Mayor David Kaptain spoke about Stingley's invaluable dedication to the job.
U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam read a declaration in her honor, which he already had entered in the Congressional Record.
