Romeoville man convicted of promoting prostitution
A Romeoville man who pleaded guilty to promoting juvenile prostitution was sentenced to probation and sex offender registry as a condition of his plea.
Joseph Mapleton, 49, made contact with a Buffalo Grove 16-year-old via an online dating service in 2015, said prosecutors during Mapleton's January bond hearing.
Prosecutors say Mapleton and the girl messaged each other and he knew her age. After the relationship turned romantic, Mapleton arranged for the girl and another teenage girl to meet with another man to perform sex acts for money.
As a condition of his plea last month, Mapleton must register as a sex offender for 10 years, court records show. He was also ordered to pay $1,184 in fines.
