Your chance to be in Palatine's 'Adopt-A-Hydrant' program

Palatine Fire Department officials are asking residents, business owners and local civic groups and others to consider participating in the "Adopt-A-Hydrant" program. To volunteer to take care of a hydrant, would-be participants can visit adoptahydrant.palatine.il.us and select one or two hydrants near a home or other places and commit to keeping them clear of snow. Palatine has about 3,500 hydrants, which fire officials say are too many to be able to keep accessible by themselves.
