Dock Dogs event in jeopardy

Libertyville officials say the annual Dog Days of Summer could be canceled because of a lack of sponsorship.

The event held in July brings thousands of visitors, with the major attraction being the Dock Dogs competition for a spot in the nationally broadcast finals. Many local pet businesses and adoption agencies and local restaurants participate.

Several major sponsors have dropped out leaving a $3,000 shortfall. The gap needs to be filled within two weeks or the event will be canceled, village officials say. Companies interested in a sponsorship should call the village hall (847) 362-2430.
