Letter: What happens to the millions of AR-15s?

Several years ago the National Rifle Association estimated there were 15 million privately owned AR-15-style rifles in America.

With so many such rifles already out there, how would banning the sale of them stop mass murder? How would it affect those who own them, literally 99.9% of whom never have and never would murder? Confiscation? I await an answer.
