Judge rejects plea for teen charged after overdose deaths

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - A northern Indiana judge has rejected a plea agreement that would have allowed a teenager to avoid prison after admitting he brought prescription drugs to a party where two brothers are believed to have fatally overdosed.

The South Bend Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1ZMFAMc ) St. Joseph Superior Court Judge Jane Woodward Miller said Wednesday she didn't believe the plea agreement accurately reflected the circumstances of the offense by 19-year-old Kyle Treber of Granger.

The plea agreement called for Treber to serve 2ˆ½ years on probation for a felony conviction of illegal possession of narcotics. Three counts of dealing narcotics were to be dropped.

Authorities say Treber was never linked directly to the drugs in the deaths of 19-year-old Nick Savage and 18-year-old Jack Savage.
