Baseball: Elk Grove, Buffalo Grove battle to 9-inning tie
Elk Grove and Buffalo Grove played 9 innings of baseball on Wednesday, and the only winner was darkness.

The game will be resumed on Tuesday to decide a winner.

Jack Churchill finished 2-for-3 and Leo Rule, Joey Pinakidis and Ben Moran each drove in 1 run for the Bison.

Grant Whitebloom and Travis Gates each generated 2 hits at the top of the order for the Knights (8-0, 2-0), and starter Ben Courtney struck out six and didn't allow an earned run in his 5 innings.
Ellis Shalton had a pair of hits for Rolling Meadows (0-7, 0-2).
Palatine 11, Hoffman Estates 5: The visiting Pirates had the bats going, rapping out 16 hits against their MSL West foes.
Jack Grochowski led the way for Palatine by getting 3 hits, scoring 4 runs and driving in a pair, and Matt Lamm and Chris Refka both doubled.
Charlie Van Dyke struck out nine in 6 innings to get the win.
Hoffman Estates (5-4, 0-2) produced a 5-run fifth inning to draw within a run, but Palatine (6-5, 2-0) answered with a 5-run inning of its own in the top of the sixth.
Hersey 9, Wheeling 3: Brett Harris paced a victorious Huskies effort by going 2-for-3 with a triple, 2 RBI and 2 runs scored along with 2 walks from his leadoff spot in MSL East play.
Hersey (3-6, 1-1) got a solid start from Matt Johnson (4 IP, 5 strikeouts, 1 hit, 3 walks), and Tanner Luke doubled and drove in a run.
Alex Khatcherian doubled and drove in a run for Wheeling (6-6, 1-1).
Barrington 2, Conant 0: Ryan Loutos tossed a complete-game 3-hitter with 9 strikeouts to keep the visiting Broncos tied with Palatine for the MSL West lead.
Tristan Michaels drove in both runs with a fifth-inning double for Barrington (9-2, 2-0).
Conant starter Ian Taylor and reliver Kevin Sindewald combined to allow the Broncos 2 hits. Taylor had the only extra-base hit for the Cougars (3-7, 0-2), a double.
Bartlett 9, Maine West 3: The host Warriors slipped to 3-6 after a nonconference loss to the Hawks. Nick Stone had a double and scored for Maine West, but no Warriors had more than 1 hit.
